ABC is bringing back the classic TV game show 'Supermarket Sweep,' hosted and executive produced by Emmy® Award-nominated comedienne and actress Leslie Jones. ![]() We need to see that we can actually fix stuff. Or restaurants - you wouldn't realize how much restaurants actually have to throw away when they can probably give it to people who need food. 18, viewers have been able to once again watch contestants sweep their way through a grocery store teeming with all the fresh produce, meats, cheeses and non-perishables a shopper could want. We can't be irresponsible and not say, "Hey, we're gonna help everybody with all of this stuff that we're doing." This is a thing that I want everybody to be able to see, so if you show them how to do it and people can see it, then we're gonna get grocery stores to donate whatever it is that they don't need to use food banks. And it could start by just being able to give food that we would normally have to throw away to people who can actually use it. I've always had a thing about homelessness and stuff like that, and I just really believe that we can fix this problem if we start thinking about what we can do for each other. It’s heartwarming and exhilarating and fulfilling. ![]() These people are winning real money and it's just absolutely wonderful. You could say “God bless you” to somebody, but if you give somebody $200, that’s a real God bless you right there. A long-time fan hosting a game show is the single best part of this revival. I'm proud of us being able to help people. For the uninitiated: Supermarket Sweep is a competitive grocery-shopping game show. I’m proud of us coming up with this in this time. Think about when you watch a game show and it's a regular person - like a mailman or garbage man, which are the most important people in our lives, by the way - and these people get to win $100,000. Especially during COVID, for us to be able to give this type of money away is life-changing and wonderful. These contestants are real people: some who want to put people through college there's people who want to pay bills there's people who have children they need to take care of.
