Even with a slightly higher cost (almost $100) it’s worth your time. We went in with no background or expectations and came out enjoying the one of a kind experience. However my suggestion is before seeing the play, do not read anything about it on internet, no reviews, absolutely nothing. The story of the act is such that any sentence on the play might spoil the fun for anyone wanting to watch the play. Rather than critique of the act, I would acknowledge the whole thought process, great execution and some flawless moments provided by the artists. I am not a literally genius and won’t comment on the technical brilliance of the act, however this act does leave a lot for the audience to interpret. However for us this was one hell of a unique experience, something of a kind which we have not seen before. This almost 3 hour act can neither be described strictly as play or a dance. I enjoyed the mystery, ambiance and the new experience. If having no beginning, middle and end happen in front of you makes you angry. If you need to be 'entertained' in the most traditional sense, head to the AMC on 19th. If a naked human body or fake blood disgusts you, go elsewhere. If any of this scares you and doesn't make you at all excited, go see a traditional Broadway show. With the masks, crowds and passing action, it's easy to lose someone. Some of us didn't have our cells since we had to check our things so if we had been separated, it might have been an issue. Lastly, if you are with someone or a group, have a plan if you get separated. Those that have serious claustrophobia may want to rethink or at least prepare because some of these scenes take place in small rooms where many gather to watch. I needed to readjust a few times but most of the time I found that I was too immersed in other things to notice. My husband wears square glasses and had little to no issues with wearing it. Or just ask a black mask and they will tell you where to go.) The masks are mostly comfortable. (And if you need the bathrooms, they're on the 5th floor. You may go back to the lobby and exit whenever you wish. I noticed some complaining about how it was too long. Say pay the $4 measly bucks and check your things. Also, I can imagine someone sets their things down in 'that room with all the stuff in it" and wanders off without it. You're moving from room to room, even running at times. Why? This isn't a play where you put your things in your seat for the next two hours. You have to pay to check all your loose items like purses and coats. If you know the stories, you won't be lost when you jump (run, stumble upon, etc) from scene to scene in random order. Read the play or at least the Wiki page of both Laura and Macbeth. Nudity, simulated sex and some pretty creepy stuff. Practical information: This is for mature audiences. It's also nothing like you've ever done before and for that, it's worth the $100/ticket. Then, when I was ready, I spotted an actor (the only non-masked people) and followed them to a scene. (They encourage you to snoop about as you wish just be kind and put things back where they came from.) And these rooms (over 100 I've read) are all artfully and meticulously arranged, decorated and themed. When first walking into the 'hotel' I was feeling excited but overwhelmed so I darted into a room to dig around in some drawers and 'treasure hunt' for a while. Who needs words when you have everything else? I loved that everything is in your control. And there is a beautiful soundtrack that will haunt you for days to come. There are cries, grunts, screams and other noises. A mix of Hitchcock's Laura and Shakespeare's Macbeth, this very loose, free flowing, non-spoken experience is nothing like you've ever been a part of. Do you appreciate modern dance and/or modern art? Do you enjoy Hitchcock films? Do you have an open mind about new experiences? Are you the kind of person that doesn't need to have everything spelled out for you? Are you willing to play along even if you're not 100% sure what's going on? Yes? Then get yourself to this amazing event now! I can't say enough about how much I loved it.
